How to remove stains from suede shoes & your much-loved uggs

Posted on by Uggexpress Shop

No matter how careful you are, spills and stains on your ugg boots can happen.

It could be a clumsy slip, a simple accident, or a case of "wrong place, wrong time"... but sometimes life just gets in the way and suddenly, you've got fresh stains on your ugg boots.

It can be a major disappointment but luckily, we've got some helpful tips on how to remove stains from suede shoes and your much-loved uggs. Learn how to get them back to looking good as new with our clean and care kit - read on!

How to remove grease stains from ugg boots

Cornstarch is a must!

Not only can cornstarch help to remove fresh grease stains, but it can also work its magic on pre-existing grease stains that have already set into your ugg boots.

If it is an existing stain, give your ugg boots a gentle brush with one of our Suede Brushes or a sponge from the clean and care kit to remove any additional dust or dried grease.

Then, leave your ugg boots somewhere for a prolonged period of time to dry.

Afterward, place a mound of cornstarch on the stain and leave it for a few hours. It is always best to test a small patch on your shoes first so you know the product isn’t going to discolour the suede or damage your ugg boots.

To finish, brush away the cornstarch and use a damp sponge or cloth to remove any left-over residue.

How to remove tough stains like wine or food

Sometimes cornstarch is not enough and you're going to need your new best friend: white vinegar.

Food and wine stains need a more intense treatment, so pour some white vinegar onto a clean cloth and gently dab and wipe the stain.

Only apply the vinegar to the affected area and then let it dry. When it has dried completely, grab your suede brush and gently rub to remove the rest of the stain.

How to remove water stains from uggs

If you have found some water stains on your suede ugg boots, don’t fret - we have the solution for you!

Funnily enough, it is best to use water to remove water stains. Dampen your suede brush and gently apply a light layer of water to your entire ugg boot, making sure the water stain is no longer visible.

Then gently dab the suede with a cloth so it is evenly wet across the shoe and let your boots air dry.

If you're worried about your boots losing shape, you can also place some paper inside your ugg boots.

Once they are dry, take your dry suede brush and lightly brush the entire shoe.

How to remove those pesky dirt stains

One new-found solution for cleaning suede has been micellar water!

Put some micellar water on a cotton wool ball or pad and gently dab your ugg boots to remove the stains. If they don’t come out right away, let the shoes dry, and then begin the process again.
